Bui National Park
It is located in Brong-Ahafo region.
Famous for its large hippopotamus population , Bui national park is one of the largest protected areas in Ghana as national park.
Found in the south west corner of the Brong Ahafo region, it spans 50km of Ghana’s border with Ivory Coast.
The Park is mostly open woodland savannah with dispersed trees and grassland with a Riverine Forest. Within this landscape visitors will also find caves , waterfalls , mountains and the Bui Gorge.
Inhabitation of this beautiful area consists of baboons, patas and green monkeys , warhogs , waterbucks , kob , antelopes as well as varieties if birds and crocodiles.
The Bui National Park suffers from poor visitor numbers as it has less developed facilities but appeals more to the adventure tourist.
The Bui Gorge , to the south of the Park , is the construction site for the new hydroelectric dam.
The park is good for bird watching , game viewing , hiking and mountain climbing. It is also ideally located for visits to Mole National Park , Kintampo waterfall , Boabeng-Fiema monkey sanctuary and Buolem Hills.
Bui National Park is located in the Tain/Wenchi district 92km from Wenchi and 22km on a side road at Banda Nkwanta on the Bole – Wa highway.
You should reach Wenchi first , then take taxi is better.
You can enjoy camping in Bui National Park.
Basic camping facilities are available in the park.
If you want to camp you should better bring your own camping site.
There are few accommodation in Wenchi like hotel and guest house.”Viglosam Lodge” and “Baah Hotel” are famous and popular.
